A honeymoon stay in Edirne is for couples looking for calm for two instead of crowded resorts: a city getaway about 232 km from Istanbul, lived without hurry over 2–3 nights. At our guesthouse in Kaleiçi, balcony rooms, a courtyard lit by lanterns and long breakfasts under the vine arbour set the scene.
How long should a honeymoon be?
There is no right number for the length of a honeymoon; the couple's leave, budget and expectations decide. The general tendency is to consider a week enough for a distant destination and 2–4 nights for a nearby city break. Couples who do not want a long journey after the tiredness of the wedding also choose a short, nearby getaway first and leave the main trip for later.
For Edirne, 2–3 nights is a relaxed plan. Day one the Selimiye and the bazaars, day two the Meriç riverside and Karaağaç, day three an unhurried breakfast and the streets of Kaleiçi. A one-night getaway is also possible, but a second night makes the difference for living the city without rushing.
Rooms for two for an Edirne honeymoon
The room honeymoon couples choose most is the Suite: 38 m², with a balcony and a bathtub. The Deluxe room is 28 m² and its balcony lets you have your morning coffee outside. The Standard room is 22 m² and is enough for a short getaway. All rooms have Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a TV and a minibar.
There is no jacuzzi or spa; instead there is the quiet of a historic house, lounges with crystal chandeliers and antique armchairs. If you would like a small decoration or surprise in the room, mention it when you book and we will discuss it in advance.
| Room | Size | Highlight | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Suite | 38 m² | Balcony and bathtub | The classic honeymoon choice |
| Deluxe | 28 m² | Balcony | Morning coffee outside |
| Standard | 22 m² | Simple and compact | A short 1–2 night getaway |

How much does an Edirne honeymoon cost?
The largest item in an Edirne honeymoon budget is accommodation. As of October 2026, room rates per night around Kaleiçi range from about 2,000 to 8,000 Turkish lira depending on the season and demand; weekdays and winter are near the lower end, weekends, religious holidays and Kırkpınar week near the upper end. Breakfast being included lowers the total budget noticeably. Confirm the current price before you travel.
The other items are travel, dinners, museum entries and souvenirs. As the city centre is explored on foot, transport costs stay low. Ask for the current room rate with your dates and we will send it the same day.
Courtyard breakfasts and lantern-lit evenings
Breakfast is served from 09:00 to 13:00 and included in your stay. In the right season you can sit without hurry at a table under the vine arbour; the open-air version of the table is described on our Edirne garden breakfast page. For couples who want a slightly later breakfast on their honeymoon, we can discuss the arrangement in advance.
In the evening, when the lanterns come on, the courtyard becomes a quiet corner for conversation. There is no regular live music; the sound of the house is the quiet of the courtyard. On a rainy evening the glass-roofed section offers the pleasure of sitting while looking outside.

What to do in Edirne on a honeymoon: a two-day couples' route
As most of Edirne is explored on foot, couples park the car and walk the city together. The two-day outline below follows an unhurried pace; you can swap things around depending on the season and your energy.
- Day 1 morning: breakfast in the courtyard, then the Ali Paşa Bazaar (about 5 min) and the Old Mosque
- Day 1 afternoon: the Selimiye Mosque (12–15 min) and the Arasta; dinner in Kaleiçi
- Day 2 morning: a photo walk along Saraçlar Caddesi and the streets of Kaleiçi
- Day 2 late afternoon: sunset on the Meriç Bridge (about 2 km, 25–30 min on foot)
- Day 2 evening: tea and conversation in the lantern-lit courtyard
Marriage proposals and anniversary surprises
If you are planning a marriage proposal before the honeymoon, or an anniversary celebration years later, the courtyard can be arranged separately; decoration and flow are described on our Edirne marriage proposal page.
If a surprise falls on the same date as your stay, write in advance and we will set up both plans together. For an arrangement prepared without your partner knowing, we keep communication with you only.
The best season for an Edirne honeymoon
Spring and autumn are the gentlest seasons for spending time in the courtyard and walking the city. In April–May the green of the courtyard stands out, in September–October the soft light. In summer the midday heat can be high, so sightseeing should move to the morning and late afternoon. In winter the stone-walled lounge and the glass-roofed hall become a warm refuge, and the city is quieter.
Rooms fill up quickly at weekends and on public holidays, so it is best to send your dates early.
