A country wedding (kır düğünü) in Edirne makes most couples think of a meadow outside the city; at Komşu Konak this feeling comes from the lawned courtyard, the vine arbour and the brick arch in the middle of Kaleiçi, without leaving the city. Guests arrive without taking a dirt road, on foot from the centre or by a short taxi ride. All our event options are on our Edirne event venue page.
How does a country-style wedding work inside the city in Edirne?
At a real country venue, electricity, toilets, transport and shade are things to be solved separately every time. In the guesthouse courtyard all of these are in place: the vine leaves form a natural canopy, the lawn gives the country feel and the red-and-white façade is a ready-made backdrop. There is no need to put up a tent or line up rows of chairs; a long table and a few seating corners form the backbone of a garden wedding.
The scale is deliberately small. A micro wedding, a boutique wedding or a celebration with the close circle of two families are the types that suit this courtyard best; the 10–40 guest range fits best, and we settle the exact number together based on your list.
The typical flow of a garden wedding in the courtyard
The order below is an example for a wedding that starts in the afternoon and ends in the evening. We shift the time of each step together to suit your programme.
- Getting ready: if you have booked a room, the bride and groom get ready at the guesthouse; the first-look shoot is done on the staircase or in front of the swing.
- Welcome: guests are welcomed under the arbour with lemonade, tea and coffee.
- Rings and speech: at a celebration after the civil ceremony, the couple give a short speech in front of the façade.
- Table: towards sunset, the meal is served at the long table.
- Cake and first dance: the cake is cut as the courtyard lights come on; as there is no dance floor, the first dance is planned as a simple moment on the lawn.
- Closing: family photos are taken, and guests who wish spend the night at the guesthouse.
Set-up options for an Edirne garden wedding
The four areas of the guesthouse serve different moments of the wedding. At most weddings we use these areas together; we decide which will be the main table based on the weather and the number of guests.
- Vine arbour: for the long wedding table and shade during the day.
- Lawned courtyard: open space for the welcome, the first dance and group photos.
- Glass-roofed section: semi-covered; a second table or the cake table on cool evenings.
- Indoor lounge: stone and brick walls, a wooden ceiling; the safeguard for a rainy day.
Season and time for a garden wedding in Edirne
In Edirne summers are hot and winters cold; the most comfortable period for a garden wedding is usually May–June and September to early October. In July and August, moving the ceremony to the evening both protects guests from the midday heat and brings sunset light into the photos. Between November and March we recommend setting the wedding under the glass roof and in the indoor lounge.
Menu, cake and decoration: what we plan together
At the quote stage we discuss the menu, seating plan, serving time, where the cake will come from, the extent of the decoration and the place of the photo corner one by one. We do not have a permanent stage or constant live music; if you have a special request such as an acoustic performance, we plan it in advance.
If you are holding the civil ceremony at the municipality and the celebration in the courtyard, our Edirne civil wedding venue page describes the cocktail set-up after the ceremony.
What is a country wedding, and what does it cost on average?
A country wedding is a wedding held in a garden, a meadow or an open courtyard instead of an indoor hall. It usually starts during the day or towards sunset, with the natural backdrop and open air in the foreground. In Edirne, country weddings are mostly held in country gardens around the city; licensed country gardens also quote prices with dinner per guest, as halls do.
As of October 2026, the per-guest price of weddings with dinner in Edirne is about 500–1,000 Turkish lira according to listings; at country gardens prices may be within or above this band. As the exact price varies with the venue, date and menu, get a written quote.

Is a garden wedding or a hall more expensive?
The answer depends on what the venue offers. In a hall, tables, chairs, lighting, sound and a kitchen are ready. At a country wedding these items are sometimes solved one by one: a tent, flooring, a generator, lighting, toilets and guest transport can create extra costs. A garden or courtyard with ready infrastructure closes this gap.
| Item | Hall wedding | Country wedding |
|---|---|---|
| Infrastructure (lighting, sound, kitchen) | Usually ready | May need setting up, depending on the venue |
| Decor | Rebuilt for every wedding | Natural backdrop; less decoration may be needed |
| Weather risk | None | A rain plan is needed |
| Guest transport | Mostly within the city | A shuttle may be needed if outside the city |
| Time | Depends on the hall's closing time | Depends on the licence and music permit |

Is a permit or licence needed for a country wedding?
A place where country weddings are held needs a business licence from the municipality as an establishment; the land's designated use in the zoning plan must also be suitable. A separate permit from the competent authority is required for playing music, and the time and noise limits of the Regulation on the Assessment and Management of Environmental Noise must be observed. Time limits can change with provincial and municipal decisions.
So asking about the licence and music permit before agreeing with a venue avoids surprises such as the music being cut on the wedding night. If you are planning a wedding on your own land, confirm the necessary permits directly with the relevant department of Edirne Municipality.
- The venue's business licence
- Music permit and closing time
- Noise limits and respect for neighbours
- If on your own land: confirm with the municipality

What to wear to a garden wedding
At a garden wedding, clothes are chosen for the open air and the ground. For women guests, light-coloured dresses in light fabrics and wedge or flat shoes are comfortable on grass; thin heels can sink into the lawn. For men, a linen or light-coloured suit and a shirt without a tie suit the garden mood. Bring a light jacket or shawl in case it cools down towards evening.
For the bride, light-fabric, less voluminous dresses with a short train move more easily in the open air. The best hours and corners for photos are on our Edirne wedding photoshoot page.
Rain plan and accommodation for wedding guests
For every garden wedding we prepare a second layout under the glass roof and in the indoor lounge; we make the final decision together a day before the wedding based on the forecast. We do not cancel a garden wedding; if necessary, we move it inside.
For families coming from afar, accommodation is at the same address: there are Standard, Deluxe, Suite and four-person Family rooms, and breakfast between 09:00 and 13:00 is included.
