The green corner you are looking for for a garden breakfast in Edirne is the morning table set in the lawned courtyard of Komşu Konak in Kaleiçi, in the shade of the vine arbour. The table is ready every morning from 09:00 to 13:00; in rain or cool weather the same breakfast moves to the glass-roofed section. According to meteorological data, May and September are the most balanced months for sitting in the garden. What is on the table and how to book are on our Turkish breakfast in Edirne page.
What is the courtyard like?
The courtyard has a lawn; tables are set under the vine arbour and along the brick arch. Garden swings, a decorative carriage and lanterns give it a homely warmth. It is the size of a home garden: there is no live music, and the sound of the morning is birdsong and conversation.
The courtyard is one gate in from the street, so traffic noise does not reach the table. The feeling of sitting in a village garden despite being in the middle of Kaleiçi is what sets a garden breakfast apart from an ordinary cafe table in the city.
- Tables in the shade of the vine arbour
- Seating along the brick arch
- Lawned courtyard and garden swings
- Glass-roofed section in the rain, stone-walled lounge in the cold

Which months suit a garden breakfast in Edirne?
According to the 1930–2025 averages published by the Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM) for the Edirne station, the most balanced months for sitting in the garden are May (average 18.0 °C) and September (20.2 °C). The average number of rainy days drops to 3.9 in August and 4.7 in September; on the other hand, as the average high reaches 32.1 °C in July and August, the early hours and the shade of the arbour are worth a lot on summer mornings.
From November to March mornings are cool; in December the average temperature is 4.7 °C. In these months the table is mostly set in the glass-roofed section or the indoor lounge with stone and brick walls.

Garden breakfast through the seasons
In spring the vine comes into leaf and the courtyard lawn turns green; mornings are cool, so sunny corners are preferred. In summer the arbour gives full shade and the table is most enjoyable early. In autumn the light softens, the vine leaves turn yellow and breakfast stretches towards noon. In winter, on sunny and mild days, you can sit in the courtyard for a short while; on most mornings breakfast is eaten looking out at the courtyard from under the glass roof.
The seasonal produce on the table follows the same cycle; the spring and summer table is enriched with fresh vegetables and fruit, the winter table more with jams and hot dishes.

Garden breakfast with children
The biggest benefit of a garden breakfast for families is that children can leave the table and play in sight. The lawned courtyard and swings offer a safe space for little ones; while adults refresh their tea under the arbour, children wander around the courtyard.
As the courtyard is the size of a home, there is no playground or entertainment programme. If you are planning a large family breakfast, let us know the number of people and the children's ages in advance; we can set the table close to the swings.
How to note a garden preference when booking
When booking, just mention that you want to sit in the garden and we note your preference. The final decision is made by that morning's weather: if there is rain, wind or a chill, your table is prepared under the glass roof. Even on a sunny winter morning, a short tea break in the courtyard is possible.
Small events are sometimes held in the courtyard, so if you are planning a special day, it is good to ask about your date in advance. Those who think of a morning gathering a little later and longer than breakfast can look at our Edirne brunch page.

Kaleiçi after a garden breakfast
When you leave the table, the Ali Paşa Bazaar is about 5 minutes and the Selimiye Mosque 12–15 minutes away on foot. After a long breakfast in the garden, walking down to the bazaar towards noon and then sitting in the Selimiye courtyard is the coolest plan for a summer day.
In the midday heat of summer you can also come back to the courtyard for a coffee in the shade; the cafe side of the house during the day is described on our Edirne old town cafe page.
